GATS - "A Solo Exhibition"

Harman Projects is pleased to present GATS - a solo exhibition featuring Bay Area-based graffiti legend Graffiti Against the System. The latest body of work continues the artist’s exploration of their iconic masked character on reclaimed surfaces.

GATS’ urban totems appear on antique metal and wood surfaces, hidden alcoves and entwined within architecture as an unexpected discovery. Using found and reclaimed items such as rusted spray cans, signs and paper ephemera, each piece is at once nostalgic and contemporary pointing towards the artist’s hoped for future.

Ahead of the exhibition, GATS has been extensively painting murals in the Pacific North West and engaging with the Portland community. Each piece in the exhibition and recent public pieces around the city expound on the glyphic language created by the artist. The artist invites the viewer to explore their environment and search for art in the unpredictable.
