Jun Oson

Biography

Jun Oson (b. 1979) was born in Aichi, Japan and started his career as an illustrator in 2005. He began creating characters with peanut-shaped features around this time, though the figures in his works now are more humanoid, often portrayed in narrative moments. His artworks have a stateless, internationally-recognized style based on the influence of manga and animations, media that has influenced him subconsciously since childhood. This stylistic approach may be similar to the way the Japanese, who maintained a unique culture, are being influenced by the West to create a more special culture for their consumption. In addition to people with various skin colors, monsters and robots appear in his works. Oson has had a prolific and influential career as an illustrator that has made him known to many people in Japan.
